President Vladimir Putin and Federal Councillor of Germany Gerhardt Schroeder have expressed a joint initiative to conduct regular Russian-German forums that would activize cooperation between the two countries in all areas. The first forum will be given the title "St. Petersburg Dialogue". It is a public forum aimed at discussing issues of mutual cooperation and other critical issues of the present day. The topic of the first conference is "Russia and Germany at the Edge of the 21st Century, a Look Ahead". 100 persons, 50 from each side, are participating in the forum. People who are 30-40 years of age constitute at least 20% of the participants.
