October 1, 2001 - October 31, 2001
V Petersburg's Autumn Photomarathon – 2001 will be held in October. Last year there were 54 photo exhibitions within the bounds of the festival, they took places in 11 city's museums, 16 show rooms and 11 galleries. This year the festival's organizers offer a new conception of the Photomarathon. There will be 11 conceptual expositions which names have the adjective “First”. In such a way it is planned to celebrate and mark originality of the new XXI century's first year.
However, there's a self-irony in this intention that may be seen in the expositions names: “My first film”, “Peter I”, “May 1” (nostalgia of mass revels, passed childhood and collective body – genre and amateur shots of Soviet holidays), “World War I”, “Petersburg: 101th shade of grey” (famous Petersburg's style of black and white photography) and others.
Apart from the mentioned above, a wide range of exhibitions of different directions and genres will be as usual presented at the festival.
