According to Karelia’s deputy prime-minister Victor Davydov, the Days of Karelia in St. Petersburg will allow the citizens of the Northern capital to get better acquainted with their closest neighbors.
The opening of the Days of Karelia will take place on November 18 in “Music Hall” where a number of expositions starts. The first among them is “Karelia-2002” and it represents the products of Karelia’s leading manufacturers.
The second exposition is devoted to the republic’s nature as well as to its modern history. The third exposition is devoted to Karelia’s folk crafts and arts. In the evening of November 18 in “Music Hall” will take place a concert of the state ensemble of songs and dance “Kantele”. The program of the Days of Karelia will accomplish on November 19 the concert “Karelia – to St. Petersburg” in the Beloselskikh-Belozerskikh Palace.
Victor Davydov reminded that in 2003 not only St. Petersburg but Petrozavodsk also celebrates its 300th anniversary, the latter is only one month younger than the former. Davydov as well announced that in the course of the Karelian delegation visit to the city on the Neva it is planned to reach agreement on exact date of the Days of St. Petersburg in Karelia.
