The world's No.1 hip-hop musician RZA to perform in the city

RZA, possibly the world's No.1 hip-hop musician who spearheads the hip-hop empire Wu-Tang Clan performs at PORT club at 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday May 19.

The Wu-Tang Clan's chief producer, the RZA was born in Brooklyn, and sent to live with an uncle in North Carolina when he was 3, after his uncle died shortly thereafter, Rza was came back to Brooklyn where he hooked up with his cousins, Ol' Dirty & The GZA. The three surfaced during the early 1990s as members of the rap unit All in Together Now. Following All in Together Now's dissolution, he joined the Wu-Tang; the group's 1993 debut, Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers, was one of the most influential hip-hop records of the era, with RZA's lean, menacing production work much imitated throughout the rap community in the years to follow.

In addition to remaining a member of the loose-knit Wu-Tang family and producing many of the group members' solo efforts, RZA also joined the Gravediggaz, helming their 1995 debut Six Feet Deep; his first full-length solo LP, RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo, followed in 1998. In 1999, Hits, a compilation of some of the Wu-Tang family's best-known tracks, from both group and solo projects, was released under the RZA's name.

RZA is usually associated for his work on all the platinum-selling Wu-Tang albums and his production efforts on albums by Raekwon, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Method Man, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Gravediggaz, Bjork and the "Bulworth" soundtrack, he also wrote music to both 'Kill Bill'(2004) films directed by Tarantino and to Jim Jarmush film 'Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai' (1999)
