During the three forthcoming years, the real estate company Makromir will build large shopping centers in St. Petersburg. Russian leading grocery retail chains, among them Pyaterochka and Perekrestok, have shown great interest in the projects and already compete for the right to open their stores in the new shopping malls. Makromir has applied to acquire more than a dozen areas, from 19 000 to 30 000 square metres, to build on. According to Makromir, the company is planning to build five shopping malls during the three forthcoming years. In the nearest future, Makromir hopes to get an approval to acquire an area at the Lenin avenue where the company will build a shopping center of 19 000 square metres if everything goes according to the plans. The shopping center is to be named “Boulevard of Paris”.
