The deal depends on city officials getting Kremlin approval to create a "special economic zone" in the area where the park is to be built, MosNews reported Monday. All companies incorporated within that zone would enjoy significant tax and customs benefits.

The Technopolis project is reportedly competing with a similar proposal that entails a larger industrial park being built at Bonch-Bruevich Telecommunications University, also in St. Petersburg.
