Nissan to halt Russian plant for 5 days

Nissan

Japanese car maker Nissan will suspend operations for five days at its plant in St Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, due to delays in engine deliveries from the Japanese plant hit by the March earthquake, the company said on Friday.
"This is a planned suspension of production, linked to the interrupted delivery of the 16-cylinder engines due to the situation in Japan," said spokeswoman Tatiana Natarova.
St Petersburg's Nissan plant, which manufactures Nissan Teana, X-Trail and Murano vehicles, produced 24,500 last year and plans to produce 46,000 this year.
The production will be halted starting May 30 and will last till June 3. (Reporting by Gleb Stolyarov; Writing by Nastassia Astrasheuskaya; Editing by Greg Mahlich)
