Traffic at Smolnaya embankment opened.Total extension of the reconstructed section – from Smolnaya street to Robespier embankment – is 1700 meters. It was the last ill-equipped part of the Neva's left bank between Bolsheokhtinsky and Liteyny bridges. Lindens taken from Gostiny Dvor were transplanted at the embankment, “Garden by Neva” was laid out. Traffic at Smolnaya embankment will allow to relieve the city's centre of transit transport. Some 25 thousand cars are expected to ride through the embankment daily.
