Today the Russian Ethnographic Museum celebrates its 100th anniversary.

The largest Russia's collection representing life, culture and trades of the nations of the Russian Empire was displayed in 1902, as the ethnographic division of the Russian Museum. Nowadays the collection counts half a million exhibits telling us about history and culture of Russia's nations. Today a solemn meeting was held in the museum with participation of Minister of Russian Culture Mikhail Shvydkoy. Besides, as parts of the festive program the large exhibition “People and Things”, dedicated to grantors of the museum and its rarities will be opened, the international conference “Traditions. Ethnography. XX-XXI centuries” will be held, a new web site of Russian folk culture will be created in the Internet.
