This was announced by director of the Finnish Institute in St. Petersburg, Jarmo Nironen at the press conference.
According to him, the Institute will hold quite a lot of cultural events, though not all them have been well-planned yet. Besides the Week of Finland, in May a competition of young jewellers will be held, and on June 6 a festive train “Sibelius” will arrive to the city on the Neva River. This event is dedicated to the tenth anniversary of this Finnish train, which daily goes from Helsinki to St. Petersburg. In June-July 2002 the Finnish Institute organizes the exhibition “Karelia as a Bridge between West and East”. Also the famous Finish children chorus that has already visited 60 countries is to be brought from Finland. The children are likely to perform in the Big Hall of the Philharmonic on September 13-14.
