Sports Days of Russian Seaports have started in St. Petersburg

Yesterday the 5-day sports meeting of Russian seaports started in St. Petersburg.

As JSC Seaport of St. Petersburg, the organizer of the event, reported the Sports Days are held for the tenth time. Teams from Vyborg, Kaliningrad, Tuapse, Novorossiysk, Petrolesport and St. Petersburg Seaport meet in St. Petersburg. The competitions are held at a sport base on Karelian Isthmus and comprise volleyball, table tennis, ski races, biathlon, chess, arm-wrestling, dart. The mean age of the participants is 30, and there are a lot of masters of sports, candidates to masters, winners of Russia in teams.

The history of sport traditions in St. Petersburg port goes back to 1962, when Sports Days of Baltic Seaports were organized. In 2000 a team of the St. Petersburg port, sportsmen over 40, won the third place in the World Championship of Veterans. In Sports Days of Russian Seaports the team has been holding the first place in tennis for a long time.
