Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Yakovlev has discussed today the preliminary setting of the official jubilee celebration ceremony with the chief artist of the Big Drama Theatre, a member of the work group of preparation to the city’s jubilee celebration Eduard Kochergin, the author of the plan. The plan is based on the jubilee ceremonies of 1803 and 1903, when all major events were held on the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island and the central water area of the Neva River. Besides the official part, an orchestra parade, a rowing regatta and a musical and performance “Elections of the “Neva Tsarina” are envisaged. Governor Vladimir Yakovlev has generally supported the idea, but noted that a number of items requires revision. In particular, uncertain Petersburg weather may amend the performance and a reserve variant of scenario should be developed.
