Chinese lanterns to light up the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg

Council General of China, in his turn, has informed about the events China is going to hold in St. Petersburg in 2002-2003, as a part of preparation to the St. Petersburg’s jubilee celebration. In April 2002 the Week of Chinese Films will be held in the city. In May China will take part in the exhibition “St. Petersburg – the City Opened to the World”. The Festival of Lanterns is also planned to be held both this year and in the jubilee year. In June Chinese companies will participate in the international fair of consumer gods in Lenexpo. In April the Shanghai Centre will be opened, a visit of Shanghai official persons is expected.

As a present to the city, China is going to build a Chinese garden in St. Petersburg, with traditional Chinese Wall and dragons, pavilions, flowers that will bring us to the atmosphere of the East. Also the Chinese government is considering the possibility to build a modern Chinese village in Petersburg countryside.
