St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in St. Petersburg for the fifth time. On March 16 a concert of the Irish group “Cruachan” will be held in the Leningrad Palace of Youth. Petersburg groups "Llanfair P.G.", "Ad Libitum", "The Dartz", "Nord Folks" and Moscow "White Owl" and "Belfast" will also participate. On the St. Patrick’s Day itself, concerts of Irish (Celtic) music performers will be held also, in Polygon and Spartak clubs.
St. Patrick's Festival was established by the Government of Ireland in November 1995. The principle aim of St. Patrick's Festival, since its inauguration, is to develop a major annual international festival around the national holiday over which the 'owners' of the festival, the Irish people, would stand proud.
