This year the garden will be closed to be turned into a museum of Russian sculpture in the open air. The project belongs to the Russian Museum, which owns this territory. The complete reconstruction will finish in 2006.
New trees will be planted in the garden, paths repaired, the pond cleaned, reconstruction of bridge carried out, as well as mounting of special garden lamps. Sculptures of Russian masters will be also put up in the garden. At present, marble and bronze copies of some sculptures from the Russian Museum’s funds are being made. So, the Mikhailovky Garden will resemble the famous Summer Garden, where copies of West-European masters are erected.
