The goal of the project is to expand business and cultural contacts with Japan.

The project is organized by:

• the St. Petersburg Association of International Cooperation (Society of Russian-Japanese friendship);

• the St. Petersburg Centre for International Cooperation;

• the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography named after Peter the Great (Cabinet of Curiosities);

• Russian-Japanese cultural centre Yamato.

The festival opens on March 29, 2002, at 6:30 p.m., in the Shuvalovsky Palace (Fontanka Emb, 21).

March 22, 4 p.m. A press conference in the Conference Hall of the palace;

March 27-28. Calligraphy studies with students from schools specializing in the Japan language. Studies of sibori method of clothes dyeing.

March 28. The exhibition dedicated to the Japan bronze miniature sculpture (from the museum's funds) will open in the Cabinet of Curiosities.

March 28-30. The festival of Japanese Films will be held in the House of Cinema.

March 29. The conference "Russian-Japanese Economic Relations. Perspectives of Development". Exhibitions of Petersburg painters, calligraphy, Japanese sobori clothes, enamel and embroidery. A concert of traditional Japanese music.

March 30. A concert of young Japanese and St. Petersburg performers: "Vocal Works of Russian Composers upon Japanese Verse" (with participation of post-graduates of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre, laureates of international competitions).

March 31. Competition and festival of children and youth creativity.
