From April 11 through 14, in St. Petersburg, at the Lenexpo exhibition grounds, the 7th specialised exhibition "Garden Design: The City and Flowers" will begin, Dutch flower growers participating. Master classes and demonstrations of famous floral designers will continue while the exhibition lasts. On the opening day, there will be displays of wedding bouquets.
The famous floral designers to visit St. Petersburg include Martin van Bergen who contributes to many important events, including those held at the State Hermitage. The maestro tends toward using mostly seasonal materials and colours, yet always includes yellow in Easter, red in Christmas compositions. There will be also Ian Aartsen who is the winner of a large number of titles and awards and who is also the Champion floral designer of Holland. He prefers compositional combinations of flowers, mostly adhering to the 'shade-to-shade' style. The clients of Kees van Deik include members of the Dutch and Saudi Arabian royal houses and the American Movie Academy with its Academy Awards ceremony. The open championship among St. Petersburg's florists and park designers will be held during the exhibition. There will be two groups, the 'masters' and 'novices'. Well-known designers will include their works in the floral compositions 'The Symphony of the Great City', 'A Bouquet for Mother' and the 'Northern Venice' arrangement while novices will try themselves at the 'Magical White Night' composition and 'The Last School Bell' bouquet. The 'Surprise' composition will bring all together.
