As the city's administration informed, Russian Consulate General in Hamburg had been invited to sit with the commission responsible for the project.
A number of projects financed by the German side have already been designed. A unique city guide to both St. Petersburg and Hamburg is just one of the ideas. The book will be bilingual, the information about St. Petersburg being in German, and the information about Hamburg - in Russian. The texts will talk about the cities' history and their present-day life. Other examples of Hamburg's initiative are to restore one of the halls in the Hermitage, organise performances of Hamburg Ballet in St. Petersburg and set up a beer festival patronized by Holsten. A monument to Russian prisoners of war will be erected at the cemetery in Bergedorf, Germany.
