Seven school age kids from St. Petersburg, Alexander Anosov, Alexei Volkov, Nikolai Klishin, Anatoly Burov, Alexander Denginov, Mikhail Berlin, and Svyatoslav Lisin, the winners of the Intel Junior-2002 preliminary competition and the 9th Intel Avantguard-2002 scientific youth conference for gifted schoolchildren, will represent Russia at Intel ISEF-2002, the International Science and Engineering Fair. This year, the fair will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, May 12 through 18.

The fair is a unique international event for schoolchildren ages 13 through 18. Its participants must be sufficiently advanced in practically all natural science disciplines. The event allows to select talented scientists while still in school so that they may be noted and further supported in their scientific careers.

School age Russian youth have been taking part in the Intel ISEF fair since 1998. For the first time, however, more than half of the entire Russia's team come from St. Petersburg. The rest of the team are Ashum Kaibkhanov, Mikhail Kozlov, Alexander Ivlev, Dmitry borkin, and Stanislav Rynin from Moscow and Dmitry Polishchuk, a young computer programmer from Arkhangelsk. So far, every time Russia's team went to the fair, it brought back high awards.
