May 19, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg Vladimir consecrated the Church of Shestakovsky the Blessed Virgin, Georgian Parish (Starorusskaya Str., 8/2).
Building of the temple started in 1895, in 1903 it was consecrated, in 1917 closed. In 1993 the building of the temple was transferred to Georgian parish; in 1993 restoration works began and finished in 2000. Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Yakovlev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Russia Z.I. Abashidze, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Z.K. Tseretely and other CEOs attended the ceremony. | |
