International architectural forum opens in St. Petersburg

palace museum in Pavlovsk The second annual international architectural forum 'preserving great cities of the world' opened in St. Petersburg on May 5. Forum Program Director Alevtina Telysheva said at the press conference that specialists from twelve countries will take part in activities. The Chief Architect of St. Petersburg Oleg Kharcheko, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for the Preservation of Memorials Hikita Yaveyn, Director of the Russian Museum Vladimir Gusev, Dutch Consul in St. Petersburg Henry Everaars, Professor of the Danish Royal Academy of Arts Andreas Trier Myorch and Professor of St. Petersburg State University of Communications Yuri Nikitin will all address the forum. Moreover, St. Petersburg architect Galina Sholokhova will give an address on the 'problem of preserving historic city parks.'

A discussion 'censor in the city historical environment' will also take place as part of the forum. There will also be one traveling session of the forum devoted to the results of the work of restorers in St. Petersburg and a survey of restored post-war palace museums in Pushkin and Pavlovsk.

Open joint stock company Kentavr, the committee for architecture and city building of St. Petersburg, the city council of architects with support from the regional architectural and artistic fund of St. Petersburg, the German Goethe cultural institute, the city committee for the preservation of memorials and the committee for culture organized the forum, which lasts four days.
