The multistory underground shopping center under Ploshchad Vosstaniya could open by 2012, Interfax reported Friday, citing St. Petersburg governor Valentina Matviyenko.

The project’s developer, Aditum, has spent $3 million on planning. The total cost of the project is estimated at more than $1 billion. The complex will occupy approximately 90,000 square meters, including parking spaces for 600 cars.
