More rage over Petersburg tower

More rage over Petersburg tower Russiaís Constitutional Court has become the latest body to urge Gazprom to think again about building a 403-metre in the centre of historic St. Petersburg.

The plan, which could jeopardise the cityís world heritage status, was criticised in an official statement signed by the courtís chairman Valery Zorkin, Kommersant reported.

Planning restrictions limit new buildings in Petersburg to 100m, and the Gazprom proposal has been roundly slammed by residents and even president Dmitry Medvedev.

But mayor Valentina Matvienko is determined to push the plan forward.
