Thousands of inhabitants and guests of the northern capital came on Sunday evening to look at gala concert "Classics on Palace" - a gift by the 312th anniversary of St. Petersburg. The governor Georgy Poltavchenko and the chairman of Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov handled welcome speech to Petersburgers and city visitors.
"In brilliant St. Petersburg the celebrations dated for the birthday of the city began. Today we together with chorus on Isaakiyevskaya Square sang favourite songs, opened Iosif Brodsky's museum, the day before celebrated an ice-hockey team of SKA. And now we wait by the main gift – fine action which to us will be presented by musicians and stars of an opera scene. Against our remarkable monuments which became scenery for a concert you will hear magnificent music which will present you pleasure and good mood", - the governor said.
Members of the delegation of Yerevan headed by the mayor Taron Margaryan became guests of a holiday also.
In gala concert on Palace the glorified singers Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Alexey Dolgov, Valentin Nafornits, the violinist Alyona Bayeva playing a violin of the work of Stradivari, ballet troupe and an orchestra of Mikhaylovsky theatre, other masters of classical art acted.
