This is a historical exhibition showing the collecting efforts of Nicholas I in the period while the New Hermitage was being built (early 1840s to 1852). Some 120 exhibits include paintings, drawings, sculptures and applied art. The most important section shows paintings by old West European masters, mainly Italian, Spanish and Dutch.
The exhibition last till May 12, 2002.
