The head of Russian Orthodox Church will serve a public worship in the Kazansky Cathedral today, because of the memorial day of the Peter and Paul apostles.
This is the final event in a series, during the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia - Alexei II - turn along the North-West region of Russia. After the worship Alexei II will meet the Leningradsky district governor, Valery Serdiukov. Together, they will discuss matters concerning spiritual development of the region.
At the same day, the Federal Security Service will deliver to the Temple of Peter-and-Paul, at the Mechnikov Hospital, 17 ancient icons once withdrawn from smugglers. Among them , 4 Virgin Mother of Our God Images, decorated with gilt, pearls and glass-beads.
