Solemn opening of IX International festival of animation films On Thursday in the Petersburg House of Ñinema (Dom Kino) solemn opening of IX International festival of animation films "Krok-2002" - the unique action of creative commonwealth of the Russian and Ukrainian cinematographers is held.

The festival will be carried out onboard the steam-ship "Vissarion Belinsky" which will depart August, 16 from River-boat station of St. Petersburg. The further route of the "festival" steam-ship passes through Valaam, Svir’stroy, Petrozavodsk, Vytgera and Goritsy up to Moscow.

This year the festival is devoted to interaction of TV and animated art. For the first time in the framework of festival there will be simultaneously two competitions: author's animation cinema, which artists make for themselves and cinema made to order - tapes and rollers shooted to order. Both competitions will be estimated by different staffs of jury.

For participation in the competitive program over 150 author's and debut films and works from 35 countries were selected, in the program of animation made to order – about 70. Also in out-of-competition demonstration 40 films are included.

The festival will be finished August,22 in Moscow.
