White Nights Festival in St. Peterburg to expand to three monthsSt. Petersburg's Stars of the White Nights Festival will expand to a three-month extravaganza as part of the Russian city's 300th anniversary celebrations in 2003. The festival, which usually lasts a month, will run from 6 May through 6 August next year. Among the international stars on the program are singers Placido Domingo, Renee Fleming, Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Olga Borodina and conductors James Levine, Zubin Mehta and Philippe Herreweghe, as well as violinist Vadim Repin. Visiting ensembles include the New York City Ballet, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, New York's Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the London Philharmonic. The Hermitage museum will hold a series of concerts as part of the celebration.
