Exhibition of Russian gems launched in St. Petersburg today – update The 11th international jewelry exhibition Junwex-2003 (Russia's Gems) opens in the Manege Central Exhibition Hall, St. Petersburg, on Wednesday. Some 350 jewelry and jewelry shops from 20 Russian regions, Italy, Germany, Turkey, the Czech Republic, India and Japan will participate in the exhibition, the Manege press service reports. According to the organizers, the exposition of jewellery makers from the Republic of Sakha (Siberia) -- Sakhayuvelir, Yakutia's Gold and Inagli, featuring jewellery with famous Yakut diamonds, will attract special attention. The exhibition will also present new platinum jewellery and new jewellery-making technologies of Krastsvetmet, the Yekaterinburg Non-ferrous Metal Working Plant, the Moscow Special-Property Alloy Working Plant and other Russian enterprises. The Petersburg Bronze, Uralsky Kamnerez and Kaliningrad Amber Factory will present the art of the best Russian stonecutters. The exposition has a wide cultural and business program, including the meeting of the Russian Jewellers' Guild, daily shows of high jeweler fashion, conferences and seminars. Petersburg's Recognition, the all-Russia Jewelers' Contest, will be held as part of the exhibition. Experts of the State Hermitage, the Russian Museum and the Kremlin museum and famous foreign jewellers will form the jury. After that, the works of the winners will be sold by auction "Russia's Best Jewellery". The Junwex-2003 exhibition will close on February 9th.
