The ballets of Mikhail Fokine with Ulyana Lopatkina in Mariinsky theatre

Ulyana Lopatkina Today on Thursday 8 at 19:00 the ballets of Mikhail Fokine are performed in the Mariinsky theatre. The routine ballet evening will be marked by the return of Ulyana Lopatkina to the stage.

Ulyana Lopatkina is the principal dancer of Mariinsky theatre. She was born in Kerch (Ukraine). She graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy (class of Professor Natalya Dudinskaya). This wonderful dancer joined the Mariinsky Theatre in 1991 and became principal dancer in 1995. She was awarded the title of the Honoured Artist of Russia in 2000. Ulyana Lopatkina is the first prizewinner at the AcademyLs 1991 Competition and the recipient of a number of international awards including the 1998 Evening Standard award for "outstanding achievement in ballet", Russian State Award (1999). She is also a laureate of the BALTIKA prize (2001).

Her repertoire includes: Swan Lake (Odette-Odile), Giselle (Myrtha, Giselle), The Sleeping Beauty (Lilac Fairy), La Bayadere (Nikia), Le Corsaire (Medora), "Paquita" Grand Pas, Pas de Quatre („M„prie Taglioni), Raymonda (Raymonda, Clemance), The Fountain of Bakhchisarai (Zarema) and many other parts.

Ulyana Lopatkina has not performed on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre for more than a year and a half and her return to the stage is anticipated with impatience by all ballet lovers.
