An international music festival kicked off in St. Petersburg on Friday evening – an event that was attended by noted French actor Gerard Depardieu, media reports say. Depardieu arrived in Russia’s northern capital at the invitation of his friend Valery Gergiyev, art director of the St.Petersburg Mariinsky Theater, who has kept in touch with Depardieu for twenty years now. On Friday, the iconic French actor took part in prolific Russian composer Igor Stravinsky’s opera staged by the Mariinsky Theater.
