The artistic director of the Philharmonic Hall of Dmitry Shostakovich, the people's artist of the USSR Yury Temirkanov became the gentleman of an award of the Rising sun of the III degree. The state award on red The White Ribbon was handed to the conductor by the consul general of Japan in St. Petersburg Esikhiro Yamamura. Yury Temirkanov in Italy was handed "The Nobel Prize for musicians" The ceremony took place in the Big hall of Philharmonic hall where Temirkanov carried out rehearsal with Deserved collective of Russia, the academic philharmonic orchestra. As Esikhiro Yamamura noted, Temirkanov is awarded a high award "for long-term exclusive musical activity in Japan and a contribution to advance of an exchange and development of mutual understanding between the people of Russia and Japan by means of music". The conductor regularly acts in the cities of the Japanese archipelago both with local orchestras, and with Deserved collective of Russia which he directed already many years. The last big tour round took place in 2014: concerts of Petersburgers took place in Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Fukuoka and the twin-city of St. Petersburg - Osaka. Temirkanov emphasized that he "is very flattered by this high award" especially as Japan is among his most favourite countries where it is always very pleasant to it to happen and act.
