C 6 on July, 31 festival "The modern Art in a traditional museum " is held, in which 12 museums of Saint-Petersburg and 13 projects of the Russian and foreign artists participate. The festival is carried out by the Petersburg fund of culture and art " Institute PRO ÀRÒÅ " at support of Ford Fund, Institute " Open Society " (Soros Fund), the State museum of history of Saint-Petersburg, and also Committee on culture of Administration of Saint-Petersburg. All projects participating in festival, became winners spent " Institute PRO ÀRÒÅ " competition of grants on which means a third year there is a Festival " The modern Art in a traditional museum ".

The basic idea of Festival, in opinion of organizers, assistance to rapproachement of traditional culture and the modern art, modernization of activity of the Petersburg museums and increase of their status.

In 2002 viewers can visit the following museums to familiarize with creativity of artists which have presented there their projects: the Museum of anthropology and ethnography (Êunstcamera), A.I.Kuindzhi museum - apartment, S.M.Kirov Museum, the Museum of scientific research institute of experimental medicine of the Russian academy of medical sciences, A.S.Popov Memorial museum, the State museum of a political history of Russia, Museum of Alexandrinsky theatre, the Russian state museum of Arctic and Antarctic, F.M.Dostoevsky literary - memorial museum, the Museum of a history of revolutionary-democratic movement of 1880-1890, St.-Petersburg V.V.Nabokov museum, Rumjantsev private residence.
