From July, 14 till July, 27 the international Summer school of fine art “Art treasures of Saint Petersburg: dynasty Romanovs as collectors of the Italian art" is held. Its program - result of teamwork of the State Hermitage and Faculty of a history of arts of the European university in Saint-Petersburg.
The course of Summer school which is realized already in fifth time, is intended for professional historians of art, and also all peple who is interested in history of culture of Russian empire. Among students of school - critics, collectors and virtuosity from Australia, USA, France, and Japan. Participants of school listen to lectures on a history of the Italian art and attend the seminars directly in storehouses and funds of the Hermitage and the State Russian museum. Besides participants of school use hospitality of the suburban museums located in former imperial residences and grand-ducal palaces. They visit Petrodvorets, Tsarskoe Selo, Îranienbaum, Pavlovsk and Gatchina.
This year in the centre of attention of the course - the history of collecting the Italian art in the imperial Hermitage. Other important aspect of Summer school - Italy in St.-Petersburg, from ideal cities of the Italian Revival as important prototypes for the architects, building St.- Petersburg, to activity of the Italian artists in St. Petersburg.
