St.Petersburg builders will have their own hymn.

Investment Construction group “Nevskiy Sindikat” together with the Committee for Construction of the city administration and the St. Petersburg Union of Composers announced of open musical contest for the set-up of builders hymn for Northern capital.

The contest has been scheduled to take place from August 2002 till March 2003 as part of official program for celebration 300-anniversary of St.Petersburg .

This hymn, according to the contest organizers, must become uniting factor in the St. Petersburg builders’ life and help them to see importance of their work as -- no one’s profession leaves such a visible trace in the city’s history as builder.

According to “Nevskiy Sindikat” press-service, the contest was announced especially because of the fact that architecture is usually called “still music”, but there is still no music created to give the idea of the builder’s creative work.

In the contest participate can both professional poets and composers and all the willing. The contest’s Jury account for the St. Petersburg Union of Composers’ Chairman – A. Petrov, the Construction Committee Chairman – A. Vakhmistrov, composers O. Mityaev and G. Portnov, poet S. Kuklin. The contest’s prize fund is $5000. The contest winner will gain both Laureate title and money in the size of $3000. Organizations interested may set special prizes for the participants.
