Projects for St. Petersburg 300-anniversary celebrations

There are seven projects for St. Petersburg Tercentenary celebrations according to the international press-center “300 Years of St. Petersburg”.

The three were provided to the press.

Project number 1 is Solemn Ceremony of Celebrations’ Decade Opening. The project was developed by the principal painter of Big Drama Theatre – Eduard Kochergin – who tried to maximally account for specialties of St. Petersburg both 100 years and 200 years celebrations. By tradition – church representatives will bring from the House of Peter the Great the icon of Our Savior, the one that was accompanying the tsar during Poltavskaya Fight. The icon will go in a special vessel along by the Neva river, the Peter-and-Paul’s fortress will meet the icon with a salutation. Next, the icon will be brought to the Hermitage and placed into the exposition of private things of Peter the Great.

Organizers plan that the exposition will be opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Next, St. Petersburg honored citizens will give Russian President memorial Tercentenary medal and he is to lay it on Peter the Great tomb. After that, ceremonial liturgy will be served.
