September, 10 at 16.00 in Kunstkamera the new exhibition devoted to a history of discoveries of the great English seafarer captain James Kuk in Pacific ocean at the end of XVIII will be opened. For the first time for 225 years Kuk’s collections will be presented to visitors of Kunstkamera in the most generally. The rare ethnographic subjects collected in Oceania, on islands of Pacific ocean by participants of the Second and Third captain Kuk’s expeditions will be exposed: the exotic weapon, fighting equipment, clothes and subjects of utensils.
The exhibition is dated for opening of one of the most beautiful halls of Kunstkamera, recently repaired to a 300-anniversary of Saint Petersburg on means of the Russian Academy of sciences.
