“Live force of music” international project, devoted to St. Petersburg’s 300th anniversary, started September,10 in the city on the Neva river and will last till the year of 2003.

With the initiative came up the St. Petersburg section of the Union of Concert Performers of Russia. The project’s president is People’s artist of Russia Yuri Temirkanov.

Vice-chairman of the Union of Concert Performers of Russia and the author of the project Mikhail Baskin said that the first part of the event will be “Musical bearing” – a cycle of concerts of national and foreign musicians taking place in St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and other cities of Russia.

As noted general director of agency “Russian music” (one of the project’s organizers) Galina Kovzel -- the most important task of the enterprise is its accessibility. People’s artist of Russia and soloist of the Big Theatre and the Vienna Opera Vladimir Atlantov stated that though it has been five years since he left the stage, the proposal of Yakov Dubravin to take part in the project was impossible to reject.

The event is realized with the support of the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture, “Open society” Institute (Soros Fund), agency “Russian music” and regional public fund of culture and art “Orfei”.
