Yesterday Natalya Batozhok, Chairman of the Committee for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg held a meeting with representatives of several foreign countries in the city. The meeting was dedicated to the forthcoming event of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the city. According to Batozhok, such meetings are held every 2-3 months. At this meeting Natalya Batozhok presented to the attention of the participants to the meeting two drafts of two documents: Calendar of events of the week of the anniversary and Calendar of events for the whole year’2003. According to Batozhok, the main days of the anniversary celebration are May 30 and 31, 2003. These are the days when the main events of the celebration are to be held - mostly the ones offered to the program by representative boards of foreign countries in the city and these are the days when all official. So far only some 40 foreign delegations are expected. There were many more of them at the celebration of the 850th anniversary of Moscow. The question of whether the entrance to the city is to be restricted would be quite natural, however the representative board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in St. Petersburg assures that the city will not become a restricted area. Meawhile, all the city’s hotels are supposed to be reserved for foreign delegations only, since “what if all the countries of the world come?”
