The contest on the best song about St. Petersburg is announced

St. Petersburg Center of Cultural programs announced a contest -- “The St. Petersburg Motive” -- on the best song about St. Petersburg. The contest will be held in the framework of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the city on the Neva.

According to the press-secretary of the contest, Elizaveta Agamalyam, any author of songs has a right to participate in the contest though both the song’s text and music must be written non earlier than 1991.

Three selection tours will be held in the contest’s framework. The first tour will take place on November 29, 2002.

In the finals, three songs – winners of the selection tours -- will be presented, plus one more song that collects the maximum of the audience’ votes during all three selection tours. The totals of “The St. Petersburg Motive” contest will be summarized on April 26, 2003 in the framework of All-Russia festival – “Talents and Worshippers”.

The best songs about St. Petersburg, becoming Laureates of the contest, will be transmitted by the city on the Neva radio stations as well as on air of the RTR St. Petersburg channel, they will also be included into the programs devoted to the Northern capital’s 300th anniversary.
