Conclusive gala concert of the “New Names" - to St. Petersburg 300th anniversary” festival was held in the Northern capital December 3.

The ceremonial closing and conclusive gala concert of the “New Names" - to St. Petersburg 300-anniversary” festival was held in Maly Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society.

At the same evening presentation of the collection of poems and a catalogue of the artistic works of the participants took place. At the concert performed young talents of St. Petersburg who passed the preliminary contest tours as well as Moscow bursars and members of the “New Names” Fund.

The project will accomplish on October 1, 2003 in Moscow at the All-Russia festival – “Talents of Russia”. According to the author of the “New Names” program, vice-president of the Russian Cultural Fund Ivetta Vorontsova, the “New Names” Fund existing for already 13 years is distinguishable from the similar organizations by the fact that “when finding a talent it doesn’t throw it but tries to develop it”. The poet Alexander Kushner remarked that “culture is not dead because children continue to write verses”.
