The XIV International festival of sand sculptures is devoted to the World heritage of UNESCO and Year of literature in Russia. A basis of work of UNESCO in the field of culture is assistance to cultural diversity, protection of the world and cultural heritage providing value for all mankind. This year sculptors will represent the unique cultural objects included in the list of the World heritage of UNESCO, among which 26 objects in Russia. In honour of a Year of literature in Russia the sculptures devoted to famous literary heroes and literary monuments will be presented. On July 9 there will take place the ceremony of opening of a festival. The honourable jury, which part famous cultural figures of St. Petersburg and Russia will be, will estimate works of masters of a sand sculpture. In honour of the opening of a festival the midday shot of the alarm tool of the Peter and Paul Fortress will be made. Authors of the best sculptures will be awarded with special prizes.
Besides, on July 9 the first audience will be able to take part in a choice of the best sculpture, to estimate works of masters. By results of the vote the owner of a prize of spectator sympathies will be defined.
This year, as before, for children, special master classes will be traditionally organized. Children learn about the basic principles of work on sand sculptures and together with moisture will be able to create figures from sand. All participants of master classes will receive souvenirs from organizers and partners of a festival. At a festival animation and entertainment program is provided.
