Registration upon arrival to the Russian Federation

    Russian visa must be registered
    When
    • within 72 hours upon your arrival if you stay in an apartment, within 24 hours upon arrival if you stay in a hotel
      (excluding weekends and official holidays);
    • it is next to impossible to extend a visa which has not been duly registered, and getting out of Russia with an unregistered visa could be a very expensive proposition.
    What documents should be submited:
    • Visa, passport, and migration card.
    Where: 1. If you are staying at a hotel
    • the hotel will register your visa;
    • a small registration fee can be imposed.
    2. If you are not staying at a hotel
    • the local UVIR within three or more working days;
    • an authorised Russian company which has arranged for your invitation letter within two days.

    3. For business visas registration

    a notarized letter from your landlord is required:

    please make sure your landlord will be able to provide you with the mentioned paper within 2 business days upon your arrival in Russia. A small registration fee can be imposed.
