Printed from: http://petersburgcity.com/museums/?id=11 Museums The great Russian writer F.M. Dostoevsky was born in Moscow, but since the age of 16 his life has been closely tied to St. Petersburg. Here he has been educated and retired from state service to devote himself to literature. Here he has been arrested as a member of the Petrashevtsy revolutionary organization and was nearly executed (at the last moment exile was substituted for the capital punishment). After coming back from the exile, he has worked in St. Petersburg. His last apartment (Kuznechny Pereulok, 5/2) has become a memorial museum. Those interested in literature will be pleased to visit the apartment, where "The Karamazov Brothers" were created. Here you can also see his personal belongings, life-time publications etc.
