The initiative to create the monument has appeared the last year, after the tragical events concerned with a nuclear submarine "Kursk" when the attention of the public was attracted to those who waits seamen on a coast. The rear admiral L.D.Chernavin became the president of fund "Monument to the Wife of the Seaman". The governor of Saint Petersburg Vladimir Jakovlev has supported the initiative of the public, having signed 16.05.2002 the special order. The union of architects of Saint Petersburg has announced the competition on the best project. Now the committee on town-planning and architecture discusses a choice of a place for placing of the future monument.
