St. Petersburg’s 300-anniversary is All Russia holiday

St. Petersburg’s 300-anniversary must be the holiday not only for the St. Petersburg citizens but also for all the country. Such a statement gave vice-premier and the Minister of Finance for Russian Federation Aleksei Kudrin on Sunday, August 18, during opening memorial plaque for the killed St. Petersburg vice-governor Mikhail Manevich.

A. Kudrin stated that “history of St. Petersburg is the history of reforms related to Peter the Great. The construction of St. Petersburg is one of these reforms, meaning the construction of a particular city both by its architecture and way of life. And St. Petersburg’s 300-anniversary has to sign that we want to live in a civilized world.”

At the same during short briefing Kudrin could not able to name the exact sum to finance 300-anniversary preparations that will go from federal budget but he pointed that in the project of budget for 2003 a separate line is planned for financing of St. Petersburg’s 300-anniversary preparations. He expressed hope that the final sum will be defined in course of consultations with the deputies of Russian federation State Duma.
