According to the St. Petersburg governor press-service during the recent session of the city government were discussed the results of a sociological survey devoted to the attitude of Russian citizens towards St. Petersburg 300th jubilee celebrations.
These surveys were held on initiative of the Russian president administration -- in St. Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian regions.
The results of these surveys demonstrate Russian citizens’ positive attitude towards our city Jubilee. More than 90% of the surveyed (no correlation found between “citizens” and “regions”) gave definitely emotional accession in their response, providing such answers as -- “it will be the holiday of holidays that will initiate resurrection of St. Petersburg’s former glory”.
Three main ideas of why St. Petersburg’s coming Jubilee is so remarkable according Russian citizens sociological surveys are:
1. St. Petersburg meant Russia’s integration into Europe.
2. It was a step on Russia’s way to renaissance, to the country’s significance of one of world’s cultural centers.
3. The advancement of St. Petersburg in politics in comparison with Moscow.
Responsible for St. Petersburg’s jubilee preparation the St. Petersburg part of the surveyed almost equally name St. Petersburg’s governor and the city dwellers (close to 51 and 49% % respectively).
On the national level, 46% of the surveyed decided that city administration bears responsibility for the anniversary celebrations’ preparations; 34% of the surveyed consider it be Russian president’s.
