“Oktyabrskaya” railroad undergoes preparations for a tense summer season of 2003 in relation to St. Petersburg’s 300th anniversary. According to the press-service of “Oktyabrskaya” railroad, on September 12, the managers of the Railroad drew the totals of the past summer 2002 season. According to Gennady Komarov, chief of “Oktyabrskaya” railroad, because for St. Petersburg’s 300th anniversary celebration numerous guests will arrive summer season of 2003 will be especially tense. In this regard special attention will be given to the park of passenger trains (today it amounts to 3,122 cars). “Oktyabrskaya” railroad continues repair works at its railway stations and platforms; accomplishment of trading zones and squares at its railway stations is going on. On September 10 starts fundamental repair works of railway stations at the distance Volkhovstroi–St. Petersburg. Accomplishment in the reconstruction of a road junction close to “Obukhovo” railway platform has been planned for the nearest future. The junction will allow to raise the speed in trains traffic and rationalize time-table of commuter trains. 48 railroad switches will be replaced, 84 km of roads restored. For the next year there is planned a start of exploitation of road junctions through the Ladozhsky Railway Station and of the second bridge on “Dacha Dolgorukova” railway platform.
