Orthodox Temple, located on the territory St. Petersburg’s “Kresty” isolation wards, will be restored due to the city’s 300th anniversary. On this announced chief of General Staff on penalties’ execution of the Ministry of Justice represented in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region Valery Zaborovsky. He pointed to the fact that soon there will be celebrated the 110th anniversary of foundation of “Kresty”. Presently the Counsel of Trustees was set up, and among the accused are selected the ones who wish to participate in the deeds of Temple’s restoration and who master the profession of a builder and artist.
For the present moment all the work is being done on funds of the General Staff of penalties’ execution of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
As it was reported in the General Staff’s press-service the temple located on territory of the isolation wards is being restored with close cooperation of St. Petersburg’s Eparchy of Russian Orthodox Church. The temple was sanctified in 1890 in the name of Saint Count Alexander Nevsky. For a long time the temple’s building was used for holding of mass cultural events.
