A whole complex of a restoration work is to be accomplished in the state museum-reservation “Peterhoff” due to St. Petersburg’s 300th anniversary.
“Due to the city on the Neva 300th jubilee we must renew the gilt of the “Great Cascade” fountain sculptures, open the church of Peter and Paul in the eastern part of the Great Palace and open the museum of cards in the Cavalry Corps”, announced the director of “Peterhoff” Vadim Znamenov. According to him, the restoration work in the Upper Garden’s House is already accomplished, where the museum of collectors is opened.
Also, the balustrade on a marine square at the palace “Monplaisir” is restored and the repairs work of the Nikolsky Gates and the pavilions of the Lower Park is accomplished.
At the present moment the work in the building “under the emblem” of the Great Peterhoff’s Palace is on; with time a golden stockroom will be accommodated there. In 2003 reconstruction of the Tsaritsyn and Olgin Pavilions will be accomplished. “We also hope that the works over the facade of the Great Palace will be finished, together with the restoration of Monplaisir’s terrace and “Emperor’s bath-house” which was constructed by the architect Jacomo Quarengi”, the museum-reservation director remarked. He also noted that in 2002, 87mln rubles were allocated from the federal budget on the restoration and reconstruction of the objects of museum-reservation “Peterhoff”.
